Where it started
Our story began in 2016, when we launched as Transport for Virtual London (TfVL) — a virtual London bus company and community originally built around OMSI 2.
In 2017, we began holding official virtual bus runs on The South London Project (TSLP), initially operating routes 3 and N3 between Crystal Palace and Kennington Lane. TSLP provided a home for our operations while we waited for Add-on London's release.
The Add-on London era
The arrival of Add-on London in 2020 marked the next stage of our journey. TfVL moved its primary operations to the new London environment, with the ambition of operating an expanding selection of routes using carefully created schedules inspired by real London bus operations.
A new era: BfVL
Now, we're preparing for our biggest change yet. Transport for Virtual London is becoming BfVL.
With the release of The Bus and the upcoming London South expansion, we believe this is the right time to build the next generation of our virtual London bus operation. Our new identity also reflects our interest in the changing landscape of London's real bus network, while BfVL remains an entirely independent virtual community.
We're not simply changing our name. We're building the next chapter of the organisation.
More than driving buses
BfVL is about creating an organised virtual bus operation. Drivers, Controllers, Allocators and other staff work together to recreate many of the operational elements that make a bus network function.
As BfVL develops, our aim is to combine enjoyable bus simulation with increasingly realistic operational systems — from duties and allocations to ROTAs, control and staff management.
A community where people from different backgrounds can take part with confidence.
Clear roles, procedures and operational systems supporting the virtual network.
Bullying and discrimination are taken seriously, supported by clear rules and staff procedures.
